The Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Sytem in your vehicle is a complicated system made of up of several essential components.
Air Conditioner Components:
- A/C Compressor
- Contains refrigerant pump and control valves for A/C pressure
- Condenser
- Helps transfer heat from the passenger compartment to under the hood
- Radiator Fan
- Removes heat from the radiator and condeser processes
- Dryer or Accumulator/Receiver
- Responsible for storing refrigerant and removing moisture
- Blower Fan
- Moves air through evaporator and heater core
- Expansion Valve
- Controls pressure differentials, which helps refrigerant reduce heat from the passenger compartment
- Evaporator
- Assists in moving heat from passenger department to condeser
- Refrigerant
- Substance that can be condensed and vaporized in certain temperatures
Heater Compnents:
- Radiator
- Helps transfer heat from coolant to the outside of the vehicle
- Radiator/Heater Hoses
- Transfers coolant to the heating core
- Blower Fan
- Helps move air from inside of the vehicle to evaporator and heater core
- Thermostat
- Responsible for regulation the flow of coolant
- Heater Core/Control Valve
- Assists in maintaining proper passenger area temperature
Having a properly functioning HVAC system is not only important for the comfort of you and your family, but also for your safety. If one of the components in these systems isn't working it may result in reduced driving visibility, as windshields tend to fog and freeze.
